SUMMARY:Greenroom Sessions feat The Academic & Hudson Taylor
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe Academic\n\nForming in their early teens\, The Academic are Craig Fitzgerald\, Dean Gavin and brothers Matt and Stephen Murtagh.  In late 2014 word started spreading throughout the flatlands of Westmeath\, a small region in middle Ireland about these 4 young kids  who played really fast and short sets that sometimes just fell apart but sometimes was pure magic to witness.  No frills just short\, sweet and straight to the point.\n\nLead singer Craig Fitzgerald says "We have been together since we started secondary school\,gradually learning our craft and playing where anybody was prepared to listen to us. There has been no defined path or formula for us. We write\, we rehearse\, we plug in and we play. It's that simple. We are not a band that was shaped overnight. We have grown up as people and as musicians overthe last few years and we have gone through a lot of shit to get to the point where we are happy with the music we are making right now. "\n\nIreland’s newest indie-rock sensation The Academic have had an incredible 18 months.  From playing festivals like The Great Escape\, Eurosonic\, Reeperbahn\, Hyde Park (w/The Strokes)\,to selling out headline shows across Ireland including a 1500 capacity show at Dublin’s Vicar Street\, to opening for the likes of Catfish and The Bottlemen\, Noel Gallagher \, Circa Waves\, Kodaline\, Twenty One Pilots\, it has been non-stop for the young Irish outfit.\n\nHudson Taylor\n\nIrish brothers Alfie and Harry Hudson-Taylor\, sons of a musician father and a dancer mother\, started busking on the streets of Dublin while still in their teens\, performing covers of Beatles and Beach Boys songs and their own original material under the name Harry & Alfie. After posting videos on YouTube which garnered a positive response\, they self-released the Battles EP in 2012\, which topped the Irish iTunes chart and went to number 14 on the British. Its success persuaded them to move to London and make a go of pursuing music as a career; barely a year later\, aged just 18 and 20 respectively\, they had a deal with Polypro.\n\nTheir acoustic\, folky sound with close vocal harmonies and a heavy ’60s influence made some of their songs reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel or Bob Dylan\, but their equal love for contemporary pop meant others had a more modern feel\, and their clever\, mature\, and sometimes dark lyrics helped to separate them from the pack. After their move to London\, the brothers lived for a time with then-unsigned English folk-pop starlet Gabrielle Aplin\, with whom they collaborated on a number of songs. Later\, she and Alfie began dating. The EPs Cinematic Lifestyle\, Osea\, and Weapons further increased Hudson Taylor’s visibility. After signing with Polydor\, which re-released Battles\, they supported Kodaline and Jake Bugg\, played Glastonbury\, and had their biggest triumph to date when they supported the Rolling Stones in front of 50\,000 people in Hyde Park. Their major debut single proper\, the catchy and insistent “Chasing Rubies\,” was issued in October 2014\, charting modestly in the U.K.; their debut album\, provisionally titled Singing for Strangers\, was set for release in March 2015. The guys have just signed to new management and have some exciting plans in place for the coming months. Catch them live at the first ever TLT Green Room Sessions on Fri Sept 30th where they co-headline with chart toppers The Academic. Tickets on sale now!\n\n\n\nPLEASE NOTE THIS IS A STANDING CONCERT
